JIT BOARDS-Wash table
Fiber cement boards are heavy and difficult to work with. They can absorb water which can cause wood supports and flooring to decay and produce mold and mildew. JIT boards are inherently waterproof, light and strong and also provide a thermal barrier. Use JIT boards in wet rooms to waterproof walls, floors and even ceilings.
Because JIT boards are light, they are easy to handle. Even though they are strong, they can be cut to size or have holes cut for piping with just a knife. Washstands, vanities, benches and niches can easily be constructed with different board thicknesses. It is easy to build a strong custom designed washboard with 2 inch (50mm) boards bonded together using a polyurethane glue. Butt joints can be reinforced with a spline, as shown in figure to the right. For thinner boards a simple dado can be cut and with PU glue used liberally. When the structure is finished it can be completely tiled.
